FAQ's
DMS stands for Dead Man's Switch. It is a dead-man's-switch vault. Funds are locked in a vault wallet that DMS's server holds, with a beneficiary and a silence limit. While you keep answering, nothing moves. If you stay silent past the limit, the vault passes to the beneficiary. DMS is an independent project and is not affiliated with OpenAI.
Anyone who holds funds that someone else should receive if they are no longer around to send them.
No. There is no username and no password. A vault belongs to the wallet that locked it.
A dot is an always-on personal agent. Yours comes with DMS and lives in the app. You name it, and it asks one question on a schedule: are you still here.
Any Solana address. It can be a person's wallet or another wallet of your own. Check it twice, because that address is where the vault goes.
Answer your dot when it checks in, in the app chat. Or press Check in on the vault. Either one sets the clock back to the full limit.
Each vault in the app shows its time left, counted down from the last answer.
Yes, until the limit passes. Close the vault and the funds return to you. After the limit has passed, the vault belongs to the beneficiary.
Any reply to your dot in the app chat, or pressing Check in on a vault.
No. It runs from your last answer until the next one, or until the limit.
Everything in the vault: the asset and the amount you locked.
No. A beneficiary has nothing to sign and nothing to accept. The address waits.
Close the vault and lock a new one with the new address. The new vault starts with a full clock.
No. While the clock is running the beneficiary has no access. The limit passing is the only thing that hands the vault over.
One per vault. To split funds between people, lock one vault for each of them.
DMS's server holds each vault's wallet and sends from it in two cases only: to you, when you close it with a signature from your wallet while the clock is running; to the beneficiary, once the limit has passed. It pays no other address.
Each vault is a wallet that DMS's server holds. Until the limit passes, only a signature from your wallet can close it, and closing pays you. After the limit, it pays the beneficiary.
Nothing happens on its own. One missed message does not move the vault. Only the full limit passing with no answer does. Your dot's message waits in the app chat: you see it when you open the app.
The limit is counted from your last answer, the time left is always on show, and your dot asks before it runs out. One answer at any point puts the full limit back.
Nothing. A check-in is a reply to your dot, or one press in the app.
Yes. Locking and closing a vault are transactions on Solana and pay its network fee, to the network.
Yes. Each vault has its own asset, beneficiary and limit, and its own clock.
SOL or USDC, on Solana.
$DMS is the ticker of DMS.
A vault holds what it was locked with. To put more aside, lock another vault.
Open the app and connect your wallet.
Choose the asset and the amount.
Enter the beneficiary and pick 30, 60 or 90 days.
Lock the vault, then answer your dot when it checks in.
Solana.
The Guides walk through a vault from the lock to the handover, what counts as a check-in, and how to pick a limit.
No. A vault is four choices: asset, amount, beneficiary, limit. After that the only thing to do is answer.
